Stormy Day 2
The whole day had alternated between violent rainstorms and sunny periods - sometimes both at the same time. Around sunset, the light went completely nuts. I've never seen anything like it before or since.

Thank you all! Claudia, you've hit the nail on the head - being on another planet is exactly what it felt like. It was actually pretty overwhelming - I was running around on the beach like a chicken with its head cut off, not knowing where to point my camera first and thinking all the while "this can't last". Which of course it didn't. Dan, unfortunately no vacation - these were taken in March 06.
