One day I woke up and decided I wanted to reinvent myself. My hair was almost totally white by the time I was 40. I had long since stopped coloring it and I usually wore it shoulder length or longer. So I decided to go dark and super short. Big, big mistake. It took me a couple of years of reversing and cutting to uninvent myself. These were the butch years.

I've had gray/silver hair since I was 40 too. I think women who embrace premature gray are striking and exude self-confidence.

Thanks guys. John ~ I agree with your preference to embrace what comes naturally. By age 38 I was pulling the white ones. By 40 it was color it or go bald. Somewhere between 40 and 50 I'd had my fill of salons and dry damaged hair. I let it grow out and did nothing more than cut it until the fateful day of reinvention. The short dark hair made me look hard and unnatural. Never, ever again.
It is long again and, once again, pure white (http://jpgmag.com/photos/3229507). -
