Out of the south cometh the wind and cold out of the north...Job 37:9
The wind would blow.
Right out of the south...
With just a little snow...
Were the words of mouth
By the weather man
And just as he foretold....
The purple finches
With feathers in a fluff,
All looked cold...
Tho' we didn't have inches
Of the powdery white stuff,
This bird said it was enough!
Poetry by me, AJP
We had many of these purple finches at our feeders today and I caught this one by herself temporarily....She was facing into the wind..They truly are birds that flock together in big numbers. The wind chill was very cold today with lots of ice on the ground.

Beautiful tones and lighting.. I love the detail you`ve captured of her fluffed up feathers as she enjoys the feeder.

What a great capture of the purple finch weathering the storm, love how much the feathers are fluffed to keep the bird warm.
