Faster than a speeding bullet. More powerful than a locomotive. Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. Look up in the sky… it’s a bird… it’s a plane… it’s Superman. Yes, it’s Superman. Strange visitor from another plane who came to earth with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men. Superman… who can change the course of mighty rivers, bend steel in his bare hands, and who, disguised as Clark Kent, mild-mannered reporter for a great metropolitan newspaper, fights a never-ending battle for truth, justice, and the American way.

The first episode of 'The Adventures of Superman' (starring George Reeves) aired on September 19, 1952. Once we got a TV, I NEVER missed it.

I had fun merging these 4 images. The cityscape is Chicago shot from Marina Towers. The other 3, a random local teen.

Thanks guys. The idea came first, the realization some time later. I started out with a Gunnison landscape. More than a bit later the 'ah-ha' filtered down. What the heck was he doing over mountains and a lake. Superman didn't save people in Gunnison... he saved them in Metropolis. Delete, delete, delete... import, import, import.... begin again.

Photography, for me, is a double-sided high... seeing and capturing, then bustin' out the tools and brushes to see what else is possible.

To me this is not a photograph. It's digital art. It was created, not photographed. Sorry but just my opinion.

    It's not a photo...it's digital art

  • Bailey Cooper

Bailey Cooper   said (21 Jan 2013):

You're right Dale. That is why this was a complete surprise. You say in your bio entry, "I take all of my pictures to please me and suit my style, not to please any judge or "critic". I feel the same and struggled when I first arrived on JPG... because my style includes the 'art' side of all that photography is today. Included on my page is a photo essay that speaks to this conundrum. It may better explain my take on photography in the 21st century (http://jpgmag.com/stories/18824). I respect your opinion and value this type of feedback. It is good for the soul.
