The Indigo bunting, a migratory bird who arrives usually in late spring or early summer did not make its appearance last year. .We don't see an abundance of them but hopefully at least the male and its mate will show up again this spring. The males are a very vibrant Indigo blue and the females are not as colorful with brown and white undertones. This little guy had just arrived that spring day in May of 2008 when I shot this picture and he was resting on the olive tree branch with a wistful look on its face...perhaps waiting for a squirrel to get off the feeder.
