This B-17 bomber is part of the Commemorative Air Force Arizona Wing. They were at our little airport in Hailey to celebrate the 70th anniversary of our airport.

    Great shot my friend !!!
Last summer the Aluminum Overcast B-17 was on exhibit at the Youngstown.Vienna Airport .
For a modest fee of 4.00 you could go inside the aircraft.
Believe me those birds were not built with crew comfort in mind.

Standard equipment on the B-17 in addition to the bomb pay load were 13 50 Cal.Browning machine guns.
After touring the inside of the plane and seeing the conditions the crewmen worked under I gained a whole new respect for the brave American heros who risked their lives on every mission.

Wonderful photo of a grand old war-bird. John Tanner is right on the mark, they were not built for comfort, and it took exceptional men to fly them into combat, especially the 'bubble gunners', the ones in the belly, tail and nose bubbles are men among men.
