Here is a close up of part of the rock featured in the previous photograph.
The formation of the rock as well as its texture is indeed funky...
as if it was slowly carved by water over many centuries.
Water indeed had once covered the whole verde valley including Cottonwood, Jerome and Clarkdale to name a few..
One can go to the top of the mountain in Jerome and one can still find sea shells..
