This is a zelus luridus, one of several assassin bug species I've found and photographed in my yard.
Unlike many other assassin bugs which have heavy, claw-like forelimbs (similar to the praying mantids and ambush bugs) the zelus luridus has forelimbs covered with tiny hairs that secrete a sticky substance...making them ace fly catchers.
