Pure white speckled with silver and gold
The sun setting and rising is getting old
The game we play, the sun and the moon
Has been going on since nearly June
When you go up I go down
When you sink into the sea, in the sky I drown
In sorrow and melancholy I cannot breathe
My mind is distraught my heart did seethe
But you shone bright above the waves singing goodbye
The clouds and reflections saturate the sky
A small diamond tear cascades down my face
Dampening the earth at night in a dewy lace
But as you rise to bring the day
I'm forced to go, and you diminish the grey, I wish it didn't have to be that way
But I always know that the waves keep kissing the shore
No matter how many times they're pushed away they come back for more
So maybe the sun and the moon are the same
This could all be a romantic game
But the sand and the water never stay together
They simply move in a constant tether
Not my dream
I don't want to be gripping at the seam
Maybe an eclipse is coming soon
Then the sun will meet the moon
Pure white speckled with silver and gold
The sun rising and setting is getting old
My eyes are heavy and my vision dulled
Please kiss me and break the tether we hold
