Important: Apparently I have been removed from the site after sending 5 messages to JPG members that included the letter below. After the 5 messages, I was told that I can no loger send messages. Also tried submitting a personal post but was blocked.
This is a letter I wrote to JPG on Feb. 12. By the 14th, I had recieved no response and wrote again requesting prompt attention to this. There was nothing nasty about my request. I wrote a third letter on the 18th and still no response. This has been slightly revised to include a couple of things in the second and third letter. Since, after a week, there has been no response to what I consider an important issue, I am now taking my findings to the members.
"I viewed your top ten vote getters in the 'Spell it Out' category. Since my entry received 79 votes, plus 70 favorites and 63 comments, much more than any of the displayed photos I have to wonder If all 10 of those photos received more than 79 votes. Two of them had a total of 80 views after I viewed them which means they had 79 views and much less in the way of favourites or comments. I find it very hard to believe that each of these received a vote for every single view. If they did, shouldn't my image which also received 79 be included? This now makes me suspicious of anything on the site that is based on votes, not so much voted Photo Challenges like this but 'Of The Week' entries and especially paid CONTESTS. The weekly photo challenge winners are chosen and I understand that. You (JPG) may choose whatever you want, but are you doing the same thing with 'Voted' categories? It seems obvious that you are but I have to wonder WHY? What possible advantage is there for JPG to ignore the votes and make their own selections? It just doesn't make any sense. I don't care if my images make it to a blog or are selected by votes. I just find it fun to participate but would like to feel confident that everything is legitimate.
Sincerely,
James Wiley"
