A: Do you know?

This image was taken using a Panasonic Lumix LX3 in late September 2010.

It was taken deep within the Old Town of Kathmandu, Nepal. It was the Indra Jatra festival, where a child goddess is dragged through the streets in an ancient traditional wooden chariot.

The chariot was being pulled round a sharp corner when this photographer took his shot. The police tried to make him move fearing he might get hit, but he refused. When the chariot swung round the corner, the photographer had to dive out the way to avoid being crushed, a lucky escape, This photo managed to catch those split seconds before impact!

James Wiley gave props (1 Mar 2013):

Not sure what's happening here but that motion blur certainly creates a frenzied atmosphere!
