    Hey Christopher,
We have had some great discussions, both public and private, so I fully understand the context of your work. Keeping that “context” in mind, I cannot help but to think that this image is taking away from that understanding and context. I understand a “fleeting moment” cannot be fully compatible with some of the esthetics of composition, but the image must possess some type of information, other than the obvious. I realize your surroundings and from the title I comprehend where you are at… but you are not “showing” me anything “new.” I love the flash reflecting from the dress onto her arm but I do not think that is the meaning of your image. I appreciate the intent on your other work, but for me, this one does not contain the same integrity. Hey, maybe this is just about yellow. A little help please…many thanks!
    My Best
    John

how about the simple fact that a yellow sequin dress pops out at a dark club. it's called contrast. maybe you've heard the word in the CONTEXT of photography. and if you look at the drink in her hand, it's a pale shade of yellow. so for those of you who need a reason (always a dangerous thing in the arts) or some form of motivation for why the shutter was clicked...it's about CONTRAST...and it's about the fact that nobody is visible in a dark club UNTIL the flash pops...and then, like a game hunter on a safari in the desert with no moon, you suddenly SEE that thing that caught your eye...and for the record, I work off instinct, not reason. If I don't feel it, I could care less about shooting it. I'm not a chess player behind the lens. it's about an impulsive rush than an introspective algorithm.
