I will lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety. Psalms 4: 8

The silk of a milkweed pod
Swayed with gentle whispers...
As if spoken by the almighty God...
To observe the long whiskers
Of the "dog pod" asleep.
It drew my attention...
While it hung in suspension,
For the seeds it would reap.
Poetry by me, AJP

It was fun to spot this dried milkweed pod which for some reason reminded me of a sleeping
dog in the way it was formed to the sleeping eye and the brown nose to the silky whiskers glimmering in the late afternoon sun. I couldn't help but notice how it stood out amidst the drabness of early spring that we contend with after a long winter when there is muddy snow and slush melting in the driveway ....The silken fibers of the pod was indeed swaying in the breeze as if to whisper to me there is more to see if we open our eyes to the art of nature.
