Hall is a fine art photographer and writer of fiction, poetry, nonfiction, essays, and screenplays. His first published photographs were of Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison. Hall has taught at the University of Portland and the University of New Mexico. After teaching in Oregon he lived in London and then New York City. He now lives in New Mexico. He has published twenty-five books, including two with Arnold Schwarzenegger. His photographs are of rock and roll superstars, rodeo, cowboys, prison, flamenco, bodybuilders, the U.S.-Mexico border, writers, and artists.

This portrait is in the collection of the Smithsonian Institution's American History Museum and in my book, Insights: The Portraiture of Charles R. Rushton,

    This picture is very interesting as all the otehrs you've published. What makes the difference between this and the others on my opinion, is the horse's head in framing, as well as the very famous kiss framed as well.

    I like the fact that the subject has the far-away look. Really it is not in the photo, seems to think ... perhaps about the horses, or about the kiss...

    wonderful capture. a powerful portrait. Wonder why he wears that shirt. I was sticking out my tongue to that guy Breschnew is kissing when I was 6 or 7 years old! ;o)

    Wait... I just noticed. He has a Russian t-shirt. the part I could read says "...Help me..." And I think Brezhnev (communist leader) is the one who kisses the other old guy. :0

    The two guys on the T-shirt are Henry Kissinger , former Secretary of State in the Nixon administration and Leonid Brezhnev, former General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.
