It was still night outside when my iPhone woke me up that morning. I slowly walked to the window of our hotel room to check the weather and, after hesitating a few seconds between going back to the comfortable bed in which my wife was quietly sleeping and going out for shooting, I quickly put on some warm clothes, grabbed my bag and walked down to the streets of Venice, heading to the Palazzo Ducale and the Piazzetta.
That was not a surprise: many other photography enthusiasts were already out shooting. But in this Carnevale time, they were all focusing on getting the best possible shot of disguised creatures (OMG! already dressed at 6:30 AM…) while I headed to the Laguna, set my tripod and began shooting the sunrise over San Giorgio Maggiore, the Canal Grande, the Palazzo Ducale and the Piazzetta.
That was it. After almost one hour enjoying sunrise in one of the most beautiful places in the world, I headed back to the hotel and slipped in the bed to hug my beloved wife who was still quietly sleeping. That was the beginning of a beautiful day.
