250 meters above the village of Valloire (Savoy, France), on the top of one of Valloire’s peaks, stands a small hamlet named Poingt Ravier (at 1644 m).
On a sunny afternoon of April, as I was spending a week in the Alps, I decided to climb to that hamlet to have a closer look; I have already been to Valloire a dozen times but I never went to that spot, so far I just looked to the tiny houses in the distance wondering if there were any souls living there.
From the top, the view on Valloire and its surrounding mountains is just breathtaking! It was well worth the effort of climbing the mountain with my backpack full of equipment to shot a few pictures from there. Everything is definitely beautiful in the mountains… The mountains of course, but also the houses, farms, refuges as well as all the remnants of the life of people who first explored the Alps, lived there, died there, as this cross that quietly looks at the village from the edge of a ravine.
