The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith.
Galatians 5: 22

Today would be my mother's 104th birthday and this is a portrait I shot of her on Labor Day weekend in 2009, when she was the Grand Marshall at a Trout Festival parade the year she turned 100... She passed away on October 26, 2011. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think of Mom. I am thankful that I caught this sweet smile of hers on such a happy occasion. it was shot before the parade started as she and the driver were getting set to go down main street from the park.

Another picture I shot of part of the crowd before the parade started can be found at this link.

A poem that Mom wrote several years ago.

Journey

Look to the Lord my friend
From dawn til setting sun;
Though many years you toil,
Your journey has just begun.

Look to the Sea, my friend,
From dawn til setting sun;
Though you sail the stoutest vessel,
Your journey has just begun.

Look to the Mountain, my friend,
From dawn til setting sun;
Though you scale the highest peak,
your journey has just begun.

Look to the Sky, my friend,
When you reach the setting sun;
Now life's earthly toil will end,
And eternity has just begun.

    Thank you all for your very kind words. I feel my mother's presence very much today. When my husband and I were going for our walk through the trail in our woods...I spotted one Daylily growing in the tall grasses next to our woods that had never been there before on a flat section of the field...We have thousands of them growing profusely by our house but first time ever on that particular spot...A bird must have dropped the seed for the flower to bloom on Mom's birthday. She loved Lilies....The Hibiscus plant had a red flower bloom today also.

    Your mother has such a sweet smile and she lived a long and wonderful life with talent in poetry and playing the organ. You inherited her talents and her beauty.
