This was taken as part of a photo project where each of us partnered up and relayed the story if a photo we wished we could have taken but, for one reason or another, could not. We each had to create an image based entirely on a short description.
The photo he couldn't take: He is breaking up with her in the hallway of his apartment building, she isn't taking it well (who does?) and he doesn't know that doing it slowly is making it hurt worse. Orange light from the sunset is coming in from the window behind him. He sees the beauty and power but he is already breaking her heart and taking her photograph now would be a violation he can't bring himself to commit.
I asked Becky to model for me because she is alone and lonely in a way most of us fear when we are being left behind by someone we love.
