It brought back that cows head staring at me from a bowl in the corner of a diner in the small Chinese village of Xiahe. Stamped so deep it has't faded out over the 18 years since.
I feel comfortable backpacking & living in India more than any of 20+ country I had as "souvenirs" from slaughtering animals aren't proudly featured. I can't even remember any Indian non-veg eateries depicting the executed as interior decor nor glorifying on their storefront lives cut short.
Can there be pride in killing a captive animal? How different is it from shooting an unarmed man carrying a white flag?
And we haven't touched the implications on human and nations relations...
