Harmless blacksnake--with a bad attitude-- in the yard. We caught a Coral Snake and a Water Moccasin prior, and walking barefoot no longer is an option. The Florida 'crabgrass' is horrible to walk on anyway.

We used to get snakes in our backyard. I have seen the blacksnake in our yard. Once our dog got bitten by a poisonous snake in the backyard! I rushed her to the vet, her face was swollen so much. They kept her on IV's and kept anti-venom meds to give to her if necessary. But they did not have to use it and she got well. She lived for many more years and we could see the scars of the fang marks on her snout the rest of her life. We cut down the plants that she was nosing around in and keep the grasses behind the fence are cut short. Since doing that we have never seen a snake in our yard again.

Thanks all! In Florida, you just can't walk barefoot in grass--or should I say here, the crabgrass.
