A mid-August fire in Hailey which, for several days, was the largest fire in the nation. There were more than 2,000 firefighters battling the blaze, and thousands of homes were evacuated. Miraculously, even though more than 111,000 acres were burned, only one home was lost.

    That is an exciting caption to accompany an exciting shot. You read about these things, but you never expect to seem creeping down the hillside in the direction of your house! What a momentous week that was, and another example of the extraordinary heroism of our nation's firefighters!

    It`s amazing only one home was lost. Last summer a town in Alberta was almost wiped out by a willdfire. Beautiful capture of a sad reality..
