Q: My sister in-law recently gave me a Canon EOS 10D digital camera body. Having only used point and shoot cameras, what would be a good beginners lens to get for this camera? Should I get kit lens to start with?

A: Do you know?

This is a photo of an actual US Navy RA-5C Vigilante that was restored and placed on display at the Sanford NAS Memorial Park on the grounds of the Orlando-Sanford International Airport.

The photo is part of a series that I did as a follow up to a single photo I took with the camera on my iPod Touch, which was the only camera I had with me. I took these photos between 4 pm and 5 pm, which was about 2 hours before sunset. All of the photos in this series (except for the original one) are straight from the camera with no post processing at all.

In this photo I wanted to get the contrast of a big plane against the sky. My complements to the designers of the memorial for giving a very convincing perception of flight.

Nice shot. Brings back memories of my first ship USS RANGER (CVA-61)
