Well, much to my surprise the game of Jacks was around during the Trojan War. At that time it was called knucklebones because their 'jacks' were actually sheep anklebones. Who knew?

This is for all the boomer chicks. I think we all did some serious time playing jacks in the day. I remember finishing round after round... would be a few throws away from glorious victory and then miss. What did I do? I bit the ball. I mean, whose fault was it anyway. Dumb ball. Next, try playing jacks with a ball covered in holes and teeth marks. Ain't happenin'.

Here's a list of the rounds I remember. So ladies, what am I missing?

1. Over the hand
2. Clicks
3. Horse in the stable
4. Through the arch
5. Over the line
6. Thread the needle
7. Eggs in the basket
8. Catching flies
9. Down the chute
10. Sweep the Kitchen

I'm not a "boomer chick," but I really like this image (and do remember that song).

Wow. This was one of my favorites as a kid. I was the champion in my school. No one could beat me!! I wonder how I'd be today? Hmmmm....might have to find out. There are tile floors in my foyer......great shot. Brings back such good memories for me!

Nifty shot of the old game. I had a set of Jacks but never knew how to play the game. The last "Jacks" I saw were scattered on a driveway by striking workers.

Thanks to all for the comments. We were so easily entertained... batteries not included. Pam ~ I don't remember 'dumps'. How did that one go? Yep Don, I never saw ♀ stamped anywhere on the ball. My brothers played as much as I did. Sorry for the gender snub. And Fred, innocent anything can and will be twisted into the antithesis.
