Ingrid García is an enthusiastic transgender woman who militates in a left-wing party in favor of the rights of the LGBTTTI community. She was the host at an interesting unprecedented project launched by Mexican public health institutions called Homophobia is out. The reality, a program transmitted via Internet that aired July 11 to 23, 2011 whose purpose was to “sensitize society through positive models that promote changes in social conduct in terms of stigma and discrimination against sexual diversity and particularly homophobia and transphobia.” Ingrid says of herself: “life has taught me that in order to achieve what one wants, it is necessary to start fighting deep within ourselves in order to battle the outside; as transsexuals it is difficult to face society’s discrimination. Sadness comes and goes, we can be hurt, but we won’t be defeated.”
