From the seres Beyond Gender.
“You can refer to me as a man without any problems; feel free to do so.” Dante Houdini, a young transsexual from the north of Mexico, who works as a silkscreen printer, is immediately liked by those who meet him or read his short, sarcastic texts. He is part of the collective Original Drag King México, that defines king as “anyone, regardless of their physical or mental gender, gender identity or sexual preference, who participates in performances, shows, etc, who exaggerates, laugh at or ridicule the masculine stereotype or role.” However, beyond the challenging stage methodology chosen to express himself, Dante is sure of what he wants as an individual: to obtain his reassigned birth certificate and to form a family with Amanda, his girlfriend. Clearly, guys like him are a great example of new sexual diversities that “decolonize” the subject as man or woman and generate new family and couple models that are attractive to new generations, that deal with the issue of homosexuality and transsexuality more openly and prejudice free.
