The Falling Chamber

I wanted to create a piece that symbolized a change in faith (perhaps even good to evil).

If you put your hand over half of the right side of her face (your right) she appears sad and melancholic with the visible part showing. But, if you put your hand over the left part of her face (your left) and view the visible half, the mood changes in her face, and she appears almost evil. I also used the backlight slowly creeping across her forehead to symbolize the change in mood by the light into darkness. I hope it relays to you as well.

Captivating shot. I love the tone and the variable focus. The tint really works well for this theme too, very ambiguous. I read about the left face/right face dichotomy a few years ago and sometimes will look at an image that way. Sometimes the results can be quite startling. Great work!

yes, you are right. this is part of a series i did, and this piece was meant to symbolize falling from grace, and the transformation from both the inside, and outside. I wanted the window to be like she is now left on the outside of something she was once inside of, and I imagine her next steps would be pulling back from the window until no longer in view. :)

Excellent work! The amount of thought you put into the composition really shows - the photo is incredibly emotional! While I dont think her hand against the screen is very original, the rest of the composition more than makes up for it. Hope it gets in the magazine =)
