Was up near Long Lake with my son backpacking (12000 feet) looking at some of the great lakes near the Cottonwood lakes when my son said he liked this pond and then asked me how to photograph it. I asked him what was it that he like and he answered it was the intimacy and isolation of the area. So we stopped and I explained how challenging and busy the scene was. But if the composition could help the eye through the scene, it could work. When the ducks moved out, I saw a chance, picked up a break in the foreground brush and the light hit the mountain in the background. Really, if I had been 10 steps further or earlier, I wouldn't been able to capture the magic.
