The early 90's produced a ton of great films. Frankie and Johnny was one. Stellar cast: Al Pacino, Michelle Pfeiffer, Nathan Lane, Hector Elizondo. Frankie and Johnny were starcrossed lovers working at overcoming unseemly pasts, alone and together.

As with any good movie, there are moments that stick... video bits that play in your head... that go to instant replay here and there... now and again.

Using PlayLater, I pulled the scene that went to autoplay as I looked through this window during one Chicago getaway. I love the original song that backs the scene. I love the measures of Claire de Lune (integral to the plot) that are skillfully woven in towards the end of this song. The extracted scene is a study in moments of close encounters of no encounter... those moments of absolute aloneness that are unavoidable and ever-present in everyone's lives.

Love the contrast and the low POV. And yes, I feel much of the fifties urban grit in this shot. It is all about our fair city (Chicago) if one looks.

Al and Michelle? I was thinkin' "E" and Donna Douglas (of "Bevery Hillbillies" fame). Great pic.
