Q: My sister in-law recently gave me a Canon EOS 10D digital camera body. Having only used point and shoot cameras, what would be a good beginners lens to get for this camera? Should I get kit lens to start with?

A: Do you know?

I'm not a seasoned people photographer in any respect, but I have been working on a style primarily focusing on Outdoor & Environmental Portraiture. This couple made this shot so successful due (largely) because they communicated so well together. (Incidentally, they just recently married.) I welcome your comments especially those people photographers out there who are very serious about this medium. by Model Release

I will say that I like the angle here, the slight tilt of things. I wish her other eye was in the shot. I think the eyes are one of the most important things in portraiture, so I'd like to see hers. Especially since they are quite lovely. The other thing I'd like to mention is that the background here doesn't look to me like an outdoor setting. I'm not sure what it is, but it almost looks like a cloth backdrop. I wish this one gave a peek of the surroundings, like you did in the other one with the ocean.
