The earth is the Lord's... and they that dwell therein...Psalms 24: 1

This scene was shot at 6:28 PM across from our fence line about 200 yards away of a Holstein cow in the neighbors pasture whose land adjoins with our woods. The mosquitoes were biting viciously at the time but handheld the camera as I well as I could with one hand while swatting with the other hand .

We are delighted though to see the current herd of cows that eat grass and weeds in this pasture (there are around 6 altogether ) when they are within camera's range. They are not always in the open field in the day time except when the weather is cooler.

The 215 mm focal length used here with my Nikon Cool-pix P600 (that has a 60x zoom) is equal to a 35mm focal length of 1200 mm and did no cropping. The camera is lightweight otherwise it would have been required to use a mono pod or tripod that time of the evening.

A cow in the pasture feeds
Amongst grass and weeds
While mosquitoes shall bite
Us thru' day time til' night!

Upon earth all that dwell
Can't live without food...
E'en insects who thrive well
When thirsting for blood...

Thanks to the JPG Staff for the spotlight on 7/26/2015..Very appreciated!

It took awhile to find this picture again back from 2015 but it is one of my favorites that I ever
shot in the evening...where the lighting was just right.

Thank you for your comments...I saw another Holstein that had more black
than white on its body with a white heart shape design on its forehead that I photographed...It is fun to be able to zoom in from that distance and see
their markings that might not be noticed otherwise.
