"This is old 'Split Nose', alpha ram of the Stillwater canyon herd. I've been following him since January of '04. It has been my habit to visit over there every year at mid winter to see the Big Horns in their winter forage. Several years back he had some serious battle damage to his nose and upper lip, hence his name. I did post a shot of that back then. Just to see this magnificent animal one more time is a precious gift...from the wild."

Hi, there, Handsome! Don't mind the scars at all. They make you interesting. Probably from sparring with the teenagers. But they must've hurt. Amazing they don't get infected more often. How do you estimate his age? Thank you for this shot of your old friend.

May...he was a prime breeder when I first saw him in January of 2004, so by extension he must be at least fifteen, and still going strong.
