Actually, we were leaving our campsite at Meat Cove (on a cliff) and were driving around the 5 mile dirt road out of there, and passed the fox, who was climbing up onto the guardrail as we went by. I stopped and walked back for the photo. The fox seemed miserable out there in the rain.

I LOVE Cape Breton! Unfortunately, I had just packed up a tent, a wife and two kids into a Toyota Echo in the rain next to a cliff just before leaving on a 2 1/2 day drive. So I was as miserable as the fox, I suppose. To get out of Meat Cove you have to navigate 4 or 5 little coves on a dirt (mud) road where the edge of the road drops off into the sea. Quite a place.

This was my daughter Shannon's last trip with the family before she went out on her own and became a world traveler. Sorry it wasn't a more exciting trip for her, but it sure was nice to see such a wonderful place with my kids together.
