An archival that I shot May 28, 2009 of this young raccoon who came to our feeder at 8:00 PM.

He had some wicked teeth on him and I don't think he liked that I used flash on him through the window... I am sure he was growling at the time as he didn't like to be disturbed.

I had more sense through experience than to go outside to shoot this picture in the dark as the mother was probably close by and they are very protective of their young. I have had an encounter with a mother raccoon running after me years ago at the home place with her young in tow when I shot a picture outside of them and I barely made it in the house as she was right on my heels when I shut the door almost on her nose. It was a narrow escape from getting bitten. They are cute but unpredictable. Consequently, I shoot the picture through the window when they show up at night to raid the feeder from knowing what they are capable of doing because of their wild nature and I keep my distance ....This time of the year they most likely are hibernating. We haven't seen too many raccoons around in recent years.

Thank you very much Ann Reece for nominating this photo of the week on 11/28/2016!
