Looking out my front window was a doe eating crab apples. The tree is full of little apples, a few must have dropped down into the grass.

a beautiful shot, excellent dof and variety of colours--I hate to see the ribs so pronounced

A lovely capture of this beautiful doe! She does look thin, hope the crab apples are plentiful enough to help her fatten up a bit :)

Beautiful animal! Does look very underweight :(

I am glad she is finding food to eat and you got an excellent close up of her! The one concern of a deer being underweight is the possibility of it having Chronic Wasting Disease but if they have it they usually show signs of lacking coordination walk in circles or repetitive patterns, stand with legs apart and drool with head tremors. The positive is she is interested in eating, and her eyes look alert....

I think this is the same doe I have seen with two little ones. There wasn't a lot of food in this end of the neighborhood last fall and I think that is why she is so thin. There seems to be a good crop of apples and nuts this year.
