I shot this picture October, 1995 at an Inventory thrift store that no longer exists as the owners retired several years ago ... My late parents also loved shopping at that store in the past as there was everything imaginable to buy, including tools and other useful household gadgets!

Since I was not accustomed to ever seeing customers shop in that store with a pet parrot atop their shoulder, I asked the young fellow who was a stranger and whom I have never seen since, if I could shoot his picture with his bird and he kindly agreed.

At that time I was using a Canon T. 60 Film Camera ...before I even heard of digital nor did we have our first computer until 1998. Progress has really come a long ways over the years.

According to Wikipedia: "The Canon T60 was the last manual focus FD-mount 35 mm single-lens reflex (SLR) camera sold by Canon; it was introduced in 1990."

Back then I kept notes on the exposures of some of my pictures such as this, where I wrote that I used Fuji 400 film with existing light. I manually focused, opening to an aperture of f/1.8 using a shutter speed of 1/60 with a 50 mm lens. Looking back, I am glad I did not use flash while he had a parrot on his shoulder otherwise a bright flash might have agitated it to fly away and out the door:)

Best View in Light box! Thank you!
