I shot this outside in the afternoon and the grosbeak was above my head on one of the branches of the crab apple tree. I was surprised to get that close to him as he is a migratory bird and had only been here a few days. We are getting a few blossoms on the tree now...It was like a summer day with temperature at 80 degrees. Shortly before I shot this picture I heard a crash north of our house and saw a big tree fall down on the edge of our woods..I had just been over in that same area in the morning shooting pictures of wildflowers.
