Highway 73 is the one connecting both ends of the land, from Canterbury Plains with its shingle decorated braided rivers, through the tussock covered fields edged by scree slope mountains and all the way down to the dark lush rainforests of the West Coast.

For an extra bonus, if you get your timing right, there may be an opportunity to appreciate the blood red lichen coloured river banks and have high-fives with the road hugging rata trees in full flower.
