When they are in the sunlight the iridescent colors stand out more on these otherwise dark colored birds and especially noticeable on the male Grackles ... On this shot he was having issues with another Grackle who was on a stand above his head... They are feisty birds by nature but diligent about feeding their young and make many trips back and forth carrying food to them....I can't help but admire this quality in them.

Raising their hackles
Both mates do right
Taking care of young
And in certain light
Look good in the sun!
