I went outside to be with the birds again this afternoon. The ones who showed up and gave me the royal welcome were the Chickadees, Nuthatches and a Downy Woodpecker....I was astonished that the Chickadees came in numbers flying back and forth to the feeder while I was out there with them today...I am sure it is because they feel more freedom when the squirrels aren't taking over their feeder and maybe I am their hero to save the day:-) All kidding aside the squirrels generally don't show up when I am shooting photographs outside by the bird feeder but they permit me to shoot through the window instead! Maybe if I make a practice of shooting pictures more outside instead of through the window some of the other birds will eventually lose their shyness as well. It is not always so easy to shoot through glass and get a sharp focus as I have been doing for several years. Especially makes it harder with two window panes (storm glass in back) to shoot through this time of the year which are very reflective. I was happy with how this one turned out... just by being outside to shoot the picture makes a big difference.

Best View in Light Box! Thank you!

Thank you Daniele ...Tomorrow we are expecting snow so I am glad that I got outside when I did to shoot these pictures of the birds before the weather turns cold.

This is such a beautiful shot, I just love his pose against the soft autumn tones! I can relate to how the chickadees give a person the royal welcome. I think you're right about them feeling more secure in your presence, at least that's what I've noticed around here.
