The ruins of Slain's Castle are famous for many reasons, partly because it was a place where 19th Century celebrities of the day were entertained on numerous occasions. Most notable being, the writer Bram Stoker and it is believed the castle is the inspiration for the setting of his vampire novel "Count Dracula". On a bone chilling cold dark Scottish winter morning, one hour before the sun comes up, it is not hard to see why this mysterious ancient ruin full of shadows could be such an inspiration
