a dusting of snow

While I was home for the holidays, a storm brought several feet of Christmas snow, blanketing the lawn at the house where I grew up.
This is where I spent dozens of late-summer mornings gathering blueberries from the scrawny bushes at the edge of the lawn. This is where, many winters ago, my dad taught me to recognize the song chickadees sing when they perch in the bare branches of our lilacs.

I love this! The perspective makes the trees look like they belong to a tiny world, and the snow is so crystalline. There is a delicacy to the light reflections.
