There is a little story that goes with this photo. It was shot on the Great American Photography Workshops Eastern Sierra Tour. After going out that morning for our shoot we were in the room looking at everyones work. The pro photographer, Neil Silverman, put this photo up,and looking at me, stated that I should be very proud of this photo as it could hang in any gallery anywhere. He went on to say it was as good as any that Ansel Adams had done there. I am still shocked by that statement and have not been able to accept it to this date. That evening we went to a very nice resturant out of Lee Vining, CA and in the lobby were some of Adams black and whites. He called me over and made comparisons to the masters work. The only difference was that mine were in color verses black and white. While I am flattered to even be mentioned in the same breath as Ansel Adams I do not believe I can ever compare to his work. I just share those comments as they tie in with the photo and I can not seperate the two. I am sure someone out there is going to set me streight.

Stunning shot, Steve! I think that whether this is 'superior' to A. Adams or not isn't the point, but it certainly brings the Master to my mind when gazing upon this beautiful image, as it did your instructor.

The light is perfect. The composition is perfect. The point of view is perfect. Maybe there's a certain amount of luck in being in the right place at the right time, but isn't luck defined as preparation meeting opportunity? A truly beautiful image. R
