Whenever I'm away from New Zealand I always yearn for images of Pohutukawa flowers (commonly known as the NZ Christmas Tree). For me they speak of summer, beaches, family, Christmas and fun. This image is my favourite.
What I love about this image is that it seems to catch the very moment when the fronds of the flower 'hatch' from their tight buds. (and fresh bird doo too!)
