As a photographer, I'm constantly looking for curves and shapes and organic forms both in nature and in the man-made world. This macro shot of the underside of a laua'e fern - taken at a nondescript waypoint in Kauai, Hawaii - caught my eye because of its myriad shapes, colors, and movements. The red droplets - so reminiscent of the pastel colored candy dots I used to eat as a kid - are an agglomeration of tiny spores which, when mature, will be released into the wind and carried off to germinate elsewhere.
