Night Drive

My natural reaction to bad news is to heavily sedate myself and then go for a drive. I turn the seat heater on, crack the window, chain smoke, and listen to either Dredg or Tool. When I am OK I constantly stake out places to go for those random times when I feel the floor falling out from under me. Those nights where my stomach feels un supported in my body and my heart wont stop pounding. If I am in LA I'll drive up the Pacific Coast Highway from Santa Monica to Ventura County or . . . . Sunset Blvd east bound to the 405 north / to Mullholland / and then to Sunset west bound and back home again. I used to pour myself into these drives. Life used to be a lot more stressful than it is now, back in the high school days I had far more drama on my plate. But every now and then I get a phone call . . . . and I find myself seeking out a new highway. The more stars and the less civilization the better.
