According to a legend associated with Babulnath temple, a cow named Kapila belonging to a prosperous goldsmith called Pandurang, stopped giving milk. This became a daily affair. On inquiring it was found out that before coming to home the cow regularly gave away all her milk at a particular spot. To Pandurang's amazement there was a huge Shivling on that spot. And this inspired into building up of Babulnath temple on that sacred spot.
