This is my sister, and my niece. My sister has been through a lot in her life, and is now a single mom raising her daughter. The divorce wasn't pretty, and still isn't. It was a world of harsh realities thrust down upon her only six months after having her child.
I can't imagine what it's like to enter into something with an expectation of eternal bliss, only to end up being left with blunt and brutal misconceptions, and lingering stings of why, why not, and where now.
I shot this image as a candid between posed pictures, but it means so much more to me than any of the other "say cheese" ones that happened that day.
