desert candle

This is a very rare and unique flower found in only two places in the world both occouring in Southern California. The first place they can be found is in the Red Rock Canyon area of the Mojave Desert and the second place is Far east Lancaster near Avenue G.
The flower is called a Desert Candle and only shows up every 3-5 years after a really good rainy season. The candle name comes from the flame looking flowers and the candle like waxy stalk.
