The picture took place at Malaekahana Beach Park on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii. It was part of the Kokua Festival STAR 101.9 Beach Clean Up event that was followed up with the Kokua festival itself a few weeks later (http://www.kokuahawaiifoundation.org/). There were other beach clean ups across the island but at this particular one there were over 400 participants which were primarily students from Brigham Young University Hawaii as part of the Ocean Appreciation Club. About 5 to 6 trucks full of trash were extracted from the beach with a wide variety of items (as you can see in the picture) including tires, rope, shopping carts, and fishing nets among many others.

Haven't seen any of these so far, an image that captures the constructive and destructive forces of mankind, nice job!
