One man's art project…

…is another man's litter. After a long hike through the Black Mountain Natural Area in Vermont, my wife and I came across this piece of trash hanging from a tree. We approached it with the intent of taking it down and packing it out, only to discover it had a note on it explaining that it was really "art". We both felt offended that someone would choose to desecrate this beautiful place, but we also didn't feel justified to destroy their work. So for better or worse we left it there.

they have something similar near the walking trail around Devil's Tower in WY but there you are cautioned not to touch the feathers and ribbons hanging 'cause they're Native American prayer thingees. So i wonder where we draw the line?
